WDYDTW: March 7th-9th, 2025

This is the first in what will probably be a recurring blog series: WDYDTW (What Did You Do This Weekend).

It's 10:30 PM on a Sunday evening, although it technically should only "feel" like 9:30 PM, thanks to Daylight Savings going into effect in the wee hours of this morning. Even still, I'm exhausted. We had a fast and furious weekend in the Park House!

Friday

For me, Friday started with an early morning drive up to the Lehigh Valley for bloodwork (more on that later). I then attended the public portion of the PA Board of SLPs' quarterly meeting online. I had hoped to discuss changes to the current legislation that myself and a small team of SLPs submitted to the board; however since they did not have a quorum, they did not want to discuss the matter. Feeling kinda frustrated about that!

Friday afternoon, we had our interior designer, cabinetry maker, and general contractor all stop by for various discussions about our upcoming home renovations. I cannot wait for it to finally get underway! To start preparing, I spent a lot of Friday evening sorting through Liera's dressers to pack up out-of-season clothes and get the furniture out of the way.

Saturday

After breakfast we headed to the Exeter Library for some new books and tickets to the Elmwood Park Zoo. Once we got home from the library, Jake and I went ham on getting ready for the construction. We thought we'd take one or two dressers/nightstands out of our room, but we ended up getting all the old furniture (including the bedframe!) out and moving all the furniture from the guest room in! It was a LONG day of shuffling the whole house around.

It ain't much but it's a bedroom!

Later that evening we dropped Liera off to be babysat while we went on one of our monthly date nights. At first we wanted to do takeout, but at the last minute we decided to go to the Grind restaurant in Boyertown. We sat at the bar and had a great time! I don't even remember all that we talked about, but it was one of those date nights where we felt really connected and had good, flowing conversations.

Sunday

Today we stopped by the swim school where we'll have Liera's birthday party next month, to check out the facilities. It should be a nice party! From there we headed to the zoo with our pass from the library. Annoyingly, the zoo had a "special event" going on today so we were told we couldn't use the library passes. It ended up being quite expensive to get in, and honestly the special event (Winter Fest) wasn't that impressive. We did have a lot of fun watching the adorable otter swimming and playing in his enclosure. I think Liera might have a new favorite animal!

I'm glad they kept this cool arch after they finished tons of renovations at the zoo

This afternoon was filled with chores, chores, and more chores... with grocery shopping and meal prepping sprinkled in. I don't mind spending a Sunday doing these things, especially when I have help, but man does it wear you out! Even though it's "technically only 9:30", I'm happily in bed, wrapping up this blog before I wrap myself up in my big fuzzy blanket. Another regular work week lies ahead!
